Proposal.

The café currently does not open on weekends and at the moment all drop in centres in the

city are closed on the weekend.

Initially Rotary CBD would provide volunteers to open the café and community centre on a

Saturday (preferably as it is easier to get a Chaplain or counsellor) or Sunday 11am until

2pm.

Labour force required total of 7-10 people from 10am – 2pm to allow for food preparation

time.

Requirements

Cafe: Open from 12 – 130pm

3 volunteers are required to run the commercial kitchen

Initially it is expected to attract 10-20 people until word of mouth and regularity of

service may build numbers to 40-50, increasing the number of kitchen hands to 5.

The volunteers are expected to provide the food.

A cappuccino machine is also available if someone is on hand that knows how to

operate it.

The kitchen is commercial style.

Soft drinks are provided by Street Level Café.

Community centre: Open from 11 – 2pm

1 or 2 volunteers are required to assist computer users in the Internet area

1 or 2 volunteers are required to meet and greet and provide some human interaction

Initially Rotary CBD would run the centre with volunteers on the first Saturday each month

(suggested).

As the logistics of the program are worked through other clubs could become involved and

take regular ownership other weeks.

If different clubs take the responsibility of one week a month there is a need for consistency

and reliability to avoid causing aggravation to people that will depend on the centre being

open.
